Alshawabkeh Elected Fellow

Prof. Akram Alshawabkeh has been appointed as a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the profession. Prof. Alshawabkeh is the George A. Snell Professor of Engineering and the Director of the Puerto Rico Testsite for Exploring Contamination Threats (PROTECT), an NIH-sponsored center focused on geoenvironmental remediation of contamination threats in the groundwater. An expert in geoenvironmental engineering, Prof. Alshawabkeh is a member of the Geo-Institute (GI) of ASCE, was the technical program co-chair of the ASCE-GI GeoCongress 2008: The Challenge of Sustainability in the Geoenvironment, and is a past Associate Editor of the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering.
