Prof. Ganguly and his students receive best paper award
A paper which used data-intensive methods to discover new climate insights was selected for the best student paper award at the 2011 NASA Conference on Intelligent Data Understanding (CIDU) this month. The CIDU is rapidly becoming a premier conference organized by NASA at the intersection of data-intensive science and high-priority domains. Professor Auroop Ganguly is a co-author of the paper, which in turn resulted from an ongoing “Expeditions in Computing” award entitled “Understanding Climate Change: A Data-driven Approach.” This grant, on which Professor Ganguly serves as Co-PI, was awarded last year by the National Science Foundation. Other authors of the paper are from the University of Minnesota, where the first author is a Ph.D. student, as well as from North Carolina State University. Congratulations to Auroop and his team!
